He is an award-winning author and illustrator with a client list including Random House, Scholastic, Simon and Schuster, Hachette, Hardie Grant, Bloomsbury, Oxford University Press and many more.
Work has appeared in art anthologies such as The Society of Illustrators Annual, Spectrum Fantastic Art Annual and Luerzers 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide, and has been exhibited at the Museum of American Illustration.
First solo work, titled Giants, Trolls, Witches, Beasts: Ten Tales from the Deep, Dark Woods (Allen and Unwin, 2017) won the NZ Book Award’s Russell Clark Award for Illustration, Gold Ledger in the Australian Ledger Awards, Notable Book in the Children's Book Council of Australia Awards and was also a finalist in the Aurealis Awards. Illustrations for How Do I Feel? A Dictionary of Emotions by Rebekah Lipp (Wildling Books, 2021) which was named as a Notable Book in the Storylines Book Awards 2021 and was also nominated in the Non-Fiction category at the 2022 NZ Book Awards for Children & Young Adults.
Most recently illustrated Humble Bumble by Miriama Kamo (Scholastic NZ, 2025) which was named as a Notable Book in the Storylines Book Awards 2025.
He lives and works from his home studio in Taranaki, New Zealand, with his wonderful family, an old ginger cat, and a rambunctious puppy named Twig.
